Anderton Primary School believes that physical education (PE), experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is a unique and vital contributor to a child’s physical development and well-being. A broad and balanced physical education curriculum and extra-curriculum is intended to provide for children’s increased self-confidence.
At Anderton Primary School, Physical Education is acknowledged as an important part of your child’s curriculum. We understand the importance of teaching children a range of physical activities during our two hours of PE each week. These activities can range from swimming to curling and dance to rugby.
Each child is seen as individual and are all offered to take part in a variety of competitive competitions through intra and inter sports games. Allowing children to take part in competitions in school and against other schools in our local area.
Progressive learning objectives, combined with varied learning approaches, endeavour to provide stimulating, enjoyable, satisfying and appropriately challenging learning experiences for all children. Through the selection of suitably differentiated developed tasks, it is intended that pupils, irrespective of their ability, will enjoy success and be motivated to further develop their individual potential.
Children are encouraged to appreciate the importance of a healthy and fit body and begin to understand those factors that affect health and fitness.
All children at Anderton Primary School participate fully in all PE and Sport activities regardless of ability, race or gender.
Chorley School Sports Partnership will be attending the school for one afternoon each week to teach two classes a range of PE lessons. They will also be holding after school clubs throughout the year which will be open to Years 1-6, spaces will be limited.
Each half term, the children at Anderton Primary school will have a PE value alongside our school values. These will be promoted not just during Physical Educational lessons but in and around school, developing the children physically, emotionally and socially.
The PE values are;
Autumn 1- Determination
Autumn 2- Team work
