Nurture

At Anderton our dedicated staff seek to work in partnership with families to nurture the whole child and develop the highest standards of education for all children. Through working in partnership with our families some children require additional nurture sessions in school.

At Anderton we are able to offer one-to-one sessions with our Pastoral Team for those children who require additional support as well as supporting those families at home.

We also have a nurture group that runs daily, led by our highly-skilled teaching assistants. These clubs offer a more informal approach to learning in a relaxed, nurturing environment for any children who require extra support at home or in school.

Our Rainbow Room!

Our brand-new sensory room, The Rainbow Room, was created in response to the needs of all children. We recognise the need to provide a space in which children can escape to learn with their peers, to have that much needed time out from the classroom or to enjoy learning activities outside of the normal classroom environment allowing children to develop both socially and emotionally. Our Pastoral Team uses the room as the basis of their sessions with individuals and groups of children as well as for our lunchtime nurture group. Each class also has timetabled access to the Rainbow Room during which time it can be used as an escape—an opportunity to reflect and refocus before tackling the next challenge ahead.

The room features a variety of sensory-based resources such as illuminated bubble tubes, fibre optic lights, mirrors and a blackout tent.

Babylon Blooms!

Outdoor learning is an essential part of life at Anderton for every child from Reception through to Year 6. Because of this, and with the kind help of our PTFA, we have heavily invested in creating an allotment area within our grounds. Each class has their own planting bed which they are responsible for maintaining. Each class discusses what they would like to grow and then, with the help of our green-fingered staff, the children investigate when is best to plant and harvest their crop or the types of flowers which would be suitable for the different seasons.
