PE

Anderton’s Parent Sport’s Volunteers.

Anderton Primary School believes that physical education (PE), experienced in a safe and supportive environment, is a unique and vital contributor to a child’s physical development and well-being. A broad and balanced physical education curriculum and extra-curriculum is intended to provide for children’s increased self-confidence.
At Anderton Primary School, Physical Education is acknowledged as an important part of your child’s curriculum. We understand the importance of teaching children a range of physical activities during our two hours of PE each week. These activities can range from swimming to curling and dance to rugby.

Each child is seen as individual and are all offered to take part in a variety of competitive competitions through intra and inter sports games. Allowing children to take part in competitions in school and against other schools in our local area.
Progressive learning objectives, combined with varied learning approaches, endeavour to provide stimulating, enjoyable, satisfying and appropriately challenging learning experiences for all children. Through the selection of suitably differentiated developed tasks, it is intended that pupils, irrespective of their ability, will enjoy success and be motivated to further develop their individual potential.

Children are encouraged to appreciate the importance of a healthy and fit body and begin to understand those factors that affect health and fitness.

All children at Anderton Primary School participate fully in all PE and Sport activities regardless of ability, race or gender.

We offer a wide range of extra curricular activities before school, during lunch and after school. Some of these are run by teachers and some by outside agencies such as Chorley School Sports Partnership, Wigan Warriors, Zumba by Jessica and Chorley FC.

At Anderton Primary we are eager to share our experiences from lessons, festivals and competitions. Please keep your eye on our Facebook page for updates.

From September 2024, the school PE kit will consist of black shorts, a red t-shirt (Anderton logo or plain) and a red hoody (Anderton logo or plain). During the winter, the children can send in plain black jogging bottoms or leggings. PE kits can be ordered from Touchline Embroidery at Touchline UK – Shop by School / Anderton Primary School (touchline-embroidery.com).
